President's Message
A message from the club President, Katelyn Pierson
What is Rotary?
How did I get involved in Rotary?
I officially joined the Scarborough Rotary Club in January of 2019 and this will be my second term as president for the club. Though I have only been an official Rotarian for 6 years, my passion for volunteer work blossomed about 14 years ago when I was a camper at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Since then I have been with the RYLA program for 14 years of service, including being a camper, being a part of Senior staff, and being a member of the Advisory board. Concluding this past RYLA, I was honored and overjoyed when presented with my first Paul Harris Fellow alongside some of my closest friends for our work over the years.
I earned a Bachelors of Science in Medical Biology at the University of New England followed by my Doctorate in Dental Medicine also at UNE. After graduation I began practicing as a general dentist in Springvale, Maine. My mission as the 2024-25 president is to continue expanding our club and what we have to offer to our community. We are a unique club that is very flexible with our meetings. We try and take our meetings into the community as much as possible . Our late night meetings make our club the perfect spot for those unable to attend a traditional breakfast/lunch club. Each one of our members are open to change and are very welcoming to club prospects as well as potential speakers! I am looking forward to this next year and if you ever have questions about Rotary or our club, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Katelyn.Pierson@outlook.com
Best,
