President Elect Kerstin Kirchner to head to Nigeria for an NID or National Immunization Day on November 23, 2010

President Elect Kerstin will be heading to Nigeria with a team from District 7780, including District Governor Ann Lee Hussey for a National Immunization Day on Nov 23-Dec 3.

President Rick stated "We are proud to be sending one of our own on a National Immunization Day experience, and we look forward to hearing from her upon her return, as a featured speaker on Dec 7th."

A National Immunization Day is where a team of Rotarians head to an area in masses to inoculate the children in order to help eradicate polio.  For more information on Rotary's plight to End Polio Now, please visit www.rotary.org/endpolio.

Day 1:  Kerstin & Team arrived safely in Nigeria.

Day 2:  Kerstin reported that the team painted 2 class rooms to 50%.  She said they could not do more because they were missing paint brushes and paint. The Rotary Club of Kaduna promised to finish the 2 class rooms. Kerstin stated "You should have seen the faces of the kids when they were handed just 1 pencil. The poverty here is heartbreaking." Tomorrow morning they leave the hotel at 6 AM for their first round of immunization.
