Meet New School Superintendent

Troy Dennan introduced Julie Kukenberger, new Superintendent of Scarborough Schools, who was the guest speaker on August 30^th.  She listened intently and asked many questions of the club members. She talked about the need for intentional taught “Guiding Principals”, such as Responsibility and Compassion for others. She was interested to hear that those are also the values Rotary recognizes through Student of the Quarter Awards. She called them “Soft Skills” and “Adaptive Skills”.  She mentioned that there is a questionnaire on the school district website that she will use to help inform her strategic plan, and asked that Rotarians complete one. The meeting did not adjourn until 7:30PM, as she fielded many questions and listened to comments.
