Scarborough Alliance for Thoughtful Tech

Jamie Andrew is part of a newly formed group, Scarborough Alliance For Thoughtful Tech, which seeks to address the significant rise in anxiety and depression among young people, widely attributed to the pervasive influence of smartphones and social media. 

The group distributed over 100 copies of "Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt which offers many recommendations for parents and educators. It also addresses how the community and local government can support the healthy development of our children by fostering more independent play spaces. One of the key solutions he proposes is encouraging more independent play and free-time activities for children, away from screens and structured environments.
